Founder- has worked with at-risk children since 2000 and is dedicated to the sucess of such children through education and cultural enrichment
Southside Community Center was founded in 2003 and offers an After-school Enrichment Program from September - May (H.I.S.D. school year schedule) and a Summer Enrichment Program May - August each year. The center works with at risk children at or, below the poverty level. We also work to eliviate the effects of poverty, junvinile delinquecy, drugs and gang related influencies on youth ages 5yrs to 14yrs. Programs include Expressive Arts (callaboration with Art Bridge Inc.) Martial Arts (callaboration with Sehah Youth & Fitness Center) Music (callaboration with Nameless Sound Inc.) Drama Work Shops, Dance, Board Games , Tutorials for Tasks, recreational sports and field trips to area museums and other educational interests.
Family Counseling is available to assist parents with behavioral issues at school and home and with building good parenting skills. Programs and support is also available to families affected by drug abuse, AIDS and HIV and transitional homelessness.
